Using exacting research in official records and photographs, aviation historian W.F.Althoff tells the story of the USS "Los Angeles", the US Navy's first airship and the most succesful aircraft of its type ever flown. The airship was built in 1922 in the German "Zeppelin" factory at Friedrichshafen. The trip to USA was commanded by the German Dr. Hugo Eckener and the American Capt. George W. Steele. The airship started at Oct. 12, 1924. Destination : America. He made 65 miles/hour. At 15th Oct., 08.00 hours the airship over New York! And he landed 09.55 at Lakehurst. The history of the ship, which was member of the US-Navy is told in this excellent illustrated book. In June 1932 was his last trip. In Nov. 1935 the ship was broken.
