One of the most bizarre vehicles of the Imperial Austro-Hungarian Navy was that of Linienschiffsleutnant Müller von Thomamühl, developed and built in 1915, which used the air cushion effect for the first time in the world. Although tested successfully, the Navy Office rejected it and it was forgotten until in the 1950s, where in England the first modern Hovercraft were assembled following the same princibles, as the one formerly built by Linienschiffsleutnant Müller von Thomamühl. A unique book, which throws new light onto the subject and the allegedly so conservative k.u.k. Navy.
From page 83 on, the book contains a detailed and illustrated description of an outstanding 1/16 scale model, built by Gerhard Schuster. It is illustrated with 94 photographs (most of them are contemporary) and drawings, whereas the model images are in colour.
