Danzig 1930 - 1945. Das Ende einer Freien Stadt

Danzig 1930 - 1945. Das Ende einer Freien Stadt
The author documents the local rise of Nazism at Danzig in the 30-ies and describes how freedom of the press and parliamentary were eliminated, political parties abolished, Jews fought and political opponents murdered or taken into "protective custody" or were forced to flee. From Danziger perspective he describes the events of September 1939, when Hitler used the Free City to begin the invasion of Poland and thus the Second World War. Finally he describes the demise of Danzig in 1945, when the Red Army captured the town and destroyed a big part of it.
