In March 1945 Soviet troops marched towards the eastern part of Austria. Their destination was the city of Vienna, the capture of which was to take place as quickly as possible on Stalin's orders. The Soviets started the so-called "Vienna Operation". It was to last from 16 March to 15 April 1945 and should conclude with the capture of Vienna.
With more than 600 pictures, illustrations and maps (one map in seize 62 x85 cm which shows the attacks of the 6th Gardepanzerarmee and the 9th Gardearmee via Vienna).
