Documentation about the airfields Villingen, Donaueschingen and Hüfigen - planning, construction, wartime and partial dissolution.
With the recovery of aviation in the late 30s, three airfields were built in today's district of Schwarzwald-Baar (in the south-western part of Germany) for a variety of reasons.
While the airfield Villingen was put into a twilight sleep for financial reasons even before the 2nd World War, the airfields at Hüfingen and Donaueschingen played a dramatic role for a short time during the war due to the occupation of Luftwaffe units (f.E. 2nd Squadron NAGr 13, Geschwaderstab/JG 53, III./JG 76, IV. Gruppe/JG 53), which remained completely unknown to most inhabitants.
Over the years, the author has been able to ask countless contemporary witnesses and former pilots of the LW about the events and was able to get hitherto unpublished photos and documents that describe the events completely and make them comprehensible.
Particularly valuable are letters from former pilots, written to the relatives at home, which sensitively describe the tragedy and senseless missions of young pilots and let the reader get very close.
