From 1982 to 2022, the eight F122 (Bremen-class) frigates were in service first for the Federal Republic Navy and later for the German Navy. Originally planned for the requirements of the Cold War, the frigates proved themselves after the temporary end of the East-West conflict in numerous foreign missions and earned their reputation as reliable "workhorses" of the German Navy.
