10 years after the Phantom was retired from service, the two authors of this booklet want to present one of the most striking designs among the fighter aircraft of the Cold War - the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II - which proved its operational capability and reliability as a fighter bomber and fighter aircraft in the German Air Force for 40 years in a number of 175 aircraft.
Part 1 deals on 48 pages with the beginnings of the procurement, the training in the USA and chronologically the introduction of this iconic type into the individual units of the Luftwaffe. Due to the volume of material, additional units are included in Part 2.
7 b/w pictures and 106 colour pictures.
