This excellent book shows the uniforms of the German army of the 1st World War (1914-1918). In two German military museums (Ingolstadt and Rastatt) were the original uniforms and parts of military clothing photographed. At all there are 1.400 photographs in colour and 400 b/w photgraphs which were taken in the war. The central point of the book is the German field-gray uniform. The table of contents has a long index and here we can show the most important parts: The development of the field-gray uniform. The different parts of the uniforms: the helmet (starting with the spiked helmet to the final steel-helmet), the different caps for officers and soldiers. the gray battledress (different for soldiers and officers), the trousers, the top coat, the different boots, special uniforms for the mountain-troops and more special troops. The different troops in uniforms are shown: the generals, the military officials, the medical and veterinare personal. the military priests. The soldiers of: Infantry; cavalry; artillery; engineers. And some more equipment: Gas-mask; water-bottle, knapsack.
