This documentation is focused on the service history of Artillerie Abteilung 836 (mot), which was established esprcially for using this, by then new weapons system, the ballistic missile. From September 1944 to March 1945 more than 900 rockets were fired from launch sites near Rheinbach, Kottenforst, Roßbach, Helferskirchen, Rimlingen, Greimerath, Reinsfeld, Muhl, Wirschweiler, Hillscheid, Gehlert and Kirburg. Over a long distance for everbody apparent were the vapor trails, called the "frozen lightnings", the rockets produced when launched. Beside a technical description of the A4 rockets, the construction of the launching sites is also explained. Numerous eye wittnes reports are included as well as the plans of the Wehrmacht to launch the missels from France and the Allied counter measures. The developments after (by the Alliies) and during WW 2 are also covered. A travellers guide to still existant V-2 launch sides cloes the book.
