This is the story (illustrated with 100 contemporary photographs) of Korvettenkapitän Günther Prien, who intruded the British Navys" base of Scapa Flow on Octobre, the 19th, 1939, which seemed to be invulnerable, before Prien with his crew succeded to enter the base with U47 and sank the British Battleship Royal Ork. For this action Prien got famous and was awarded the "Ritterkreuz" as the first submarine leader. Alltogether he and his crew they sank 160.000 BRT of Allied shipping, which made him one of the most succesful submarine leaders of the entire war and brought him the "Eichenlaub zum Ritterkreuz". On February, the 20th, U47 left its base for his tenth and last sortie, from which it never returned.
