This volume describes the history of the German WW2 fighter arm in the Mediterranean, its operations, victories, losses and its equipment (Macchi MC.205, Messerschmitt Me 109 and Focke-Wulf Fw 190), incuding the camouflage and markings of the aircraft, between January and December 1943. Beside the description of the service-histories of the units described, it contains dozens of mostly unpublished b/w-photographs and -profiles, scale drawings of the aircraft types, victory-/loss- and unit-commander-lists to every unit as well as descriptions of camouflage and markings.
This volume shows 608 contemporary images, 15 of them in color! It covers the history of the Jagdwaffe in the Mediterranean, between 1.1.1943 and 31.12.1943, especially that of II. and III./JG 53 and that of JG 77, which, during that time, saw service in the Mediterranean in Jagdgeschwader-strength, as well as the duty of the following units in Romania: I./JG 4, I./JG 5, III./JG 77 und 10./ JG 301.
