In the restricted area of diamonds at the coast of southern Namibia a spectacular discovery was made: a shipwreck of the early 16th Century, well preserved in the sea floor. From this unique time capsule copper, tin, lead, mercury, weapons, everyday and luxury items, nautical instruments as well as gold and silver coins of priceless historical value were brought to light. Research has shown, that this ship is the Portuguese sailing ship BOM JESUS, which was traveling with a commodity charge of Augsburg and Nuremberg trading houses.
Provided with about 400 color illustrations, the book not only describes exactly the ship, its armament, and the on-board charge, but also the maritime routes of trade and travel and at that time the most important European export and import goods.
