This unique new series of books is the result of the author´s 20 years of research into the secret RAF intelligence and interrogation reports filed about each enemy aircraft that crashed on British soil. These reports offer eye-witness accounts of armament, markings, engines and camouflage along with details of the crew members and their service history.
The author has taken the content of all these reports and transcribed it into a readable and cross-checked reference source, the like of which has never been published before.
Publishers Simon Parry and Mark Postlethwaite of Red Kite decided that this series should be illustrated with actual photos of the crashed aircraft wherever possible and so set out to find these photos from their vast network of aviation historian contacts. Several leading authors have contributed their photos to this series and their expertise has also been called upon to identify many previously unknown or miscaptioned images.
This ongoing series will run to between 6-10 volumes, (dependent upon the amount of photos that can still be uncovered for future parts), and will be published every three months or so. The last volume will be a comprehensive index. The publishers will be posting some of the more obscure photos on their website and invite all historians and enthusiasts to help with identification.
