The Sikorsky CH-53 is the largest helicopter in the inventory of the Bundeswehr. From the value comparable with the UH-1D Huey and due to its sheer size, a star of every aviation event. In addition to their participation at Bundeswehr missions in foreign countries the huge helicopter primarily is known by its operations during the floods in 1997, 2002 and 2013. The machine will be in use until about 2030.
