Every issue of this series is illustrated throughout and covers a special subject, mostly classes of ships. This volume covers the ocean salvage tug class 722. Five ships of this class were still in service in 2010. They show about 100 photographs (most of them in colour if covering modern subjects, in b/w, if historical subjects are covered) of medium size and changing quality, contain technical data, partly sketches and technical-drawings as well as one or two colour profiles (top- and side-view). The text passages give an overview over history, service and the equipment of the class.
This Profile is created by the authors Martin Rode and Olaf Rahardt. In the present time the German Navy uses mainly frigates which are similar to destroyers in respect of weapons and size. They are called the 123 and 124 class.
When the German Navy was formed again after WW-II the main weapons systems were destroyers of the Fletcher class.
Here we try to bring this class back to the memories of a young generation interested in the weapons systems of the young German Navy.
