The author follows the evolution of the air war and the development of the aviation arm of the German Army. It shows that the war in the air - contrary to the popular assumption - did not result from the generalized technologization of the warfare and surprised the military after the outbreak of the conflict but was the result of a specific/targeted preparation.
The leadership, the equipment, and the personnel are checked for the conditions under which they were subjected, and compared with the situation in the host countries. The specialization and design of the individual air force components, their commandos structures and their current areas of activity are examined, the political, economic, technical, military and personnel framework conditions/parameter are discussed. The influence of the difficult situation of the armaments industry on the air war is shown. The author also vividly examines the atmosphere and the everyday life in the Luftwaffe of the German Empire, showing how the Luftwaffe's action ability was and which influence it had on the course of the war.
